Q:  How do I know when it's time?

A:  This is one of the most difficult decisions we make for our pets. The key factor in making the home pet euthanasia decision for your dog or cat lies in determining your pet's quality of life.  By nature, many pets hide their signs of pain while trying to please their owners.  However, your pet may give you signs to help guide your decision:

  • Does your pet have a decreased appetite and energy level?
  • Is your pet able to get up and around without assistance?
  • Does your pet have difficulty urinating or defecating on their own?
  • Does your pet still interact with the family and enjoy their favorite activities with relative ease?
  • Does your pet have more "bad" days than "good" days?

Quality of life is more important than quantity.  When quality of life suffers, it is time to help your pet find peace.
